Creating the Storyboards for Back to the Future Part 4 – a short company film

Back in 2021, as a part of FUNFILMCO, a creative video production company, we were tasked at creating a company film centered around the concept of Back to the Future, but featuring people in the company playing the various roles.

I was tasked at creating a majority of the visual effects of this production. I also created all of the virtual sets where some of the sequences take place. Luckily, I have been using Adobe Photoshop for 30+ years now, so it was a breeze. I am very proud of the disco and the time travel plasma lightning effects that I created. They turned out GREAT! Even the transformation between Marty and Doc is pretty smooth and works with the tornados spinning – total old school.

In the past, we have had up to 50 people involved either directly or indirectly along with my friend John and myself as co-directors along with visual effects, editing and sound.

This production didn’t have as many company associates involved and thus the script didn’t live up to its fullest possibilities with potential one liners combined with company culture. Nonetheless, we still tried to make it fun and visually engaging so we were successful on that front.

It was screened before the entire company and they all LOVED IT! They were cheering, laughing at all of the right spots and thunderous applause when it was over. It is always an experience to watch the finished piece at a movie theater with a huge screen, an engaged audience and loud sound! There is nothing quite like it.

The two Star Wars and Batman ’66 parody company films we created back in 2016-2019 were even better because of the company participation.

Here are the original storyboards that I created for this production back in 2021:
